Prunus Africana

Pygeum is the name of the extracts, teas, and supplements from the bark of Prunus Africana. The tree originates mostly from equatorial Africa (Cameroon, Uganda, Nigeria, DRC, and Kenya).

Pharmacological research dating back to the mid-1960s revealed and supported its efficacy in treating enlarged prostrate (PBH), relieving poor urine flow, urinary hesitancy, and nighttime urination. Resultantly, it was patented for this purpose.

The Fulani people in Western Africa refer to it as dalehi, meaning “plant that has many uses.” It’s also used for fever, malaria, kidney disease, and some other conditions but there are not enough studies to support these other uses.
